Egis Traffic Management Services is the service branch which specializes in traffic management services in the greater Sydney area. On the 1st of October, 2015, Tollaust (concessionaire) assigned the management of incident response services for Sydney’s Lane Cove Tunnel and the M2 motorway to Egis through a three-year contract. (Tollaust is a subsidiary of Transurban Group, the major player in managing private motorways in Australia.)
The M2 motorway (21 km) and the Lane Cove Tunnel (3,6 km) are two urban motorways linking the M1 motorway (Gore Hill Freeway) and the northwest suburbs of Sydney in New South Wales. The traffic on these two motorway sections is averaging 120,000 vehicles per day.
Egis Traffic Management Solution manages a workforce of 27 staff dedicated to the M2 LCT project. The key role of Egis is to ensure safety on the motorway and in the tunnel by providing incident response and traffic management services to planned and unplanned events. Prior to the successful start of services, Egis recruited and trained the staff, procured vehicles and equipment, developed plans and procedures and established interface protocols with all stakeholders.
